South Jordan, UT (April 11, 2013) – The Bingham Canyon Mine experienced a slide of its northern wall at 9:30 p.m. on April 10, 2013.
Preemptive measures were taken to relocate employees, facilities and roads for weeks in advance of this event. All remaining employees are accounted for and being evacuated.
The movement was contained within the mine; however, residents may see an increase in dust for a short time.
Experts and emergency response personnel will be evaluating the extent of the movement when the sliding stops. We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
Ground movement is infrequent but something we monitor and plan for daily.
